Lenovo Thinkpad, sturdy good laptop for working. Thinking of getting one myself also have great linux support if you don't want to use windows.

Get some Asus laptop, they are pretty good and cheap

Get a retina macbook cant go wrong

Windows surface pro 3 with Intel core I5 will be good for papers and such. If you want to game get an Asus g55jk.
