Bottleneck with his system CPU is not as good compared to the GPU.
He could lose performance quite a big gap appearing.

Luke should have hunted for a old dell optiplex or such with a i5 quad core and a 4 or 6gb of ram. in the $150-$200 range.

You can get old office machines with i3s and i5s of the sandy bridge and even ivy bridge era from buisness, offices and schools fairly cheap in the $200ish range and add a graphics card and power supply could be a potent machine especially with new cards like the gtx 960 and 750ti.

Linus one because he had a better cpu that amazing cou cooler. It needed a second one for push pull :p and he had a high quality silverstone case :p all he needed was a 120gb ssd bootdrive for a killer $350gaming rig

You'd be surprised if you take some time and look around. I know there are schools around here that regularly pitch old hardware ( some only being a few years old) for cheap. Not super highend but as toke said i3 - i5 range.

I am not sure if you watch their wan show. I do every so often and they mentioned that this is going to be an on going series, so I am wondering what they plan on doing next.

I know when i was a freshman our school got 2011 imacs know they going to the slim ones next year so im expecting cheap imacs to be for sale in the $500 area
