I use Windows 8.1 because I game a lot. But if I were to suggest another OS to use, I'd say try Ubuntu. If Ubuntu isn't your cup of tea you can still choose from a multitude of other flavors.

Just to add, windows 10 will have directx 12 which will hopefully have a big impact on gaming. Just keep that in mind when choosing an OS Smile

Anything above Windows 7 SUCKS. I would either stick with Windows 7 or download Ubuntu.

My favorite OS will have to be Windows 7 for everything else. Then either Linux, Rapsberry Pi, or Debian for specifically programming (well in school anyways)

Windows 7 is my favourite. I've got windows 8.1 installed on 2 computers but I like the layout of windows 7 better Smile

It's an operating system, not a software.

Anyhow, I use Windows 8.1, doesn't give me any issues etc. I used multiple flavors of Linux, but as Rath said I also game.
