Windows uses DWM which is direct X driven. As far as I know you can hook to that.

You can also use OBS to record your desktop. You just have to add a monitor source and it will do it perfect. I recently used it for one of my threads. :p

That might be the better option. I actually was going through DXtory and avatar was correct. It can't do it. Seems kinda silly.

It is. DXtory was my go to software for recording games. Then I started using OBS when I stream occasionally and eventually found out it's a nice all in one.
