Pinnacle Studio 12? I use that software. Back when I had Vista, I was having compatibility issues with it as well, it wouldn't read my input. Fortunately their forums are pretty helpful, because their software hates Vista (But loves Windows 7/XP).

BAD_POOL_HEADER Blue Screen of Death with Dazzle DVC 170/130

Affected OS: Windows Vista 32 bit
Affected Programs: Instant DVD Recoder/Studio 10 and 11 (Standard, Quickstart and Plus)
Affected Hardware: Dazzle Recorder Platinum and Dazzle DVD Recorder (DVC 170 and DVC 130)

Problem:

When either Instant DVD Recorder or Studio 10/11 is launched and detects incompatible Dazzle drivers the operating system halts to a BSOD and reboots the system.

Cause:

The Dazzle package comes with Studio 10.5 Quickstart and when installed in Windows Vista it installs an old version of the DVC 170/130 drivers. While the Quickstart is compatible and works well in Vista after being patched to 10.8 the driver is left installed and is associated to the device. When the a software calls for this old driver Windows Vista halts and reboots.

Solution:

Note: Make sure that Studio 10.8/11 is already installed and patched to its latest version before doing the steps.

Verify your version of the Driver.

1. Click the “Pearl” (Vista Start button) and type Device Manager on the search box and press Enter
or press the Windows button + Pause on your keyboard and click Device manager on the System properties screen.
2. Click the “+” sign for the Sound, video and game controllers
3. Right-Click on "Dazzle DVC170" and choose "Properties"
4. Of the three tabs, choose "Driver".
The Driver Properties appear.

Note: If the drivers installed on your system is older that 2.5.2 proceed to the driver removal/update steps below. Otherwise your driver is up to date and may not be the cause of the BSOD error.

Complete incompatible driver removal.

1. Click the “Pearl” (Vista Start button) and type Device Manager on the search box and press Enter
or press the Windows button + Pause on your keyboard and click Device manager on the System properties screen. (Figure 1: System Properties.)
2. Click the “+” sign for the Sound, video and game controllers
3. Right-Click on "Dazzle DVC170" and choose "uninstall”
4. Close the device manager
5. Unplug your Dazzle device from the USB Port
6. Click Start and click Computer
7. Browse to “C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Shared Files\Drivers”
8. Delete all instances of DVC 130_170 folders, compressed files and drivers

Updating Drivers to the latest one.

1. Download the latest driver from drivers download page.
2. Install the driver pack
3. Reboot the computer
4. Connect the Dazzle Device.
5. Repeat the driver version verification steps above.
6. If the driver is up to date, you should be able to capture with Studio and/or Instant DVD Recorder.

Lets hope that helps.
