I bought the game, downloaded the Vanguard DLC thing, went to the disk icon, hit X and it takes me back to XMB and just sais there was an error during the start operation. Please any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would assume you are running a firmware less than 4.60, so you will need to: resign the eboot of the actual game itself to the firmware version you are on, and do the same to any other eboot that might be in the game's data folder (especially the update's eboot). Once that is done, it should work.

I got the same error, but resigned and haven't had it since.

Make a backup with multiMan, launch the backup and answer 'Yes' when multiMan asks if you want to fix the game.After the game installs you may have to fix the update EBOOTs with PSN Patch. In PSN Patch press L2, left, down, start. PS3 will reboot. Then you will have fixed the 80010009 error. Future updates, run PSN patch again.
Once the game is installed you can run from the original disc or the back up, your choice.

Thanks for that, but all I did to get it to work was go into multiman and just updated to 1.03 through there, then it worked.
