Well registering a domain costs a bit of money (usually around $10 a year, but you can get a legitimate one for cheaper if you find the right discounts and such), and from there any other costs depend purely on what kind of site you're planning on making.

What kind of site you want a simple one like this You must login or register to view this content. I would do it for low cost and its all html code that site took me 2Days to design and make. But if you want php or something else I'm not really good at that. Also I don't have a server/host you can take over but I can give you a few that are good.

If/when you get to grips with it you can easliy set it to redirect to a .com domain (or co.uk whichever you choose) and choose a better host.

Don't pay money out until you are sure you are gonna keep the site running hence I say go for the free services 1st after all it might only be £30 you waste but I'd rather spend £30 on a hooker or bag of weed

Form there is pretty basic and easy if you stay out of the hosting cp and start configuring your site threw.
