This is how I interpret what happened:

Lil Wayne used to actually be good. He had a clear voice, good songs and lyrics. Once his name got big, that's the only reason that he sold. He honestly sucks right now and does steal styles(poor T-Pain). If more people had minds of their own, he would be forced to make good music again or retire. There are plenty of other artists that sell off of their name and steal lyrics. 50 Cent is another example. I can't even listen to the radio because I don't want to hear that stupid "Baby by Me song." Artists get lazy after finally getting on TV, therefor they start making terrible songs and steal lyrics. Unfortunately, underground rap will always be better.
