I have been on the Game.co.uk website and found this in the news.

Having broken every record on offer in the first-person shooter realm, Activision's blockbuster Call of Duty franchise is to make the move into a whole new genre next year.

The publisher has revealed that the 2011 instalment of Call of Duty will be an action-adventure game from rookie developer Sledgehammer Games.

Work on the new title will be headed up by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, best known to gamers as the men behind the award-winning sci-fi horror title Dead Space for EA.

Mike Griffith, president and chief executive officer of Activision Publishing, said: "We are excited about the opportunity to bring the franchise to new geographies, genres and players."

Activision will be hoping the new game can come close to matching the success of developer Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which achieved the biggest launch of any entertainment product in history when it came out last year.

Before that, however, gamers can still look forward to a 2010 instalment of the venerable series, which is currently being worked on by Call of Duty: World at War creator Treyarch.


Yeah i know, it sounds pretty good, but this bit isnt sounding so good.

Genres - if you dont know what that is, its like sports, action, adventure, horror, thriller etc.

i hope we wont have a terrorist and a Task force 141 soldier playing ping pong .

it will also be created by completely new people, Sledgehammer games and two award winning game designers.

But the thing im hopeing will make this year complete, is Treyarch. As it says at the bottom of the news, they are working on a game for release this year! im almost positive they will have a Zombie type game mode, since the Cod 5 zombies was a giant hit.

awesome! new call of duty is always good.

Yeah i know, i just hope they have a big time gap in between them.

Another call of duty is always great, I agree they should be released further apart. Having them too close will annoy alot of people.

i hope they dont put in the playstation move lol.

before you say world at war was a fail look at mw2, glitched games, infinite ammo, prestige hacks, infinity ward are the real failures. Atleast treyarch can put together a stable game..
