(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok guys, so I'm sure that by now most of you have heard of the attempts to create an NGU community YouTube channel to give all you members to an opportunity to publicize your videos on a relatively high traffic channel. After going through many, many failed attempts at finding efficient ways of choosing which videos are to be posted, I have decided to settle on a more Machinima-like approach to the issue, despite how one-sided this may appear to be.

From now on, here is how things will work:

If you have created a video which you think is worthy of being posted on the You must login or register to view this content., whether it be a glitch or a gameplay commentary video, upload it to your your own youtube channel, and post the video in this thread. Upon that point, those of us involved with the YouTube channel will decide whether or not it is worth posting. If we decide it is worthy of being added, we will use You must login or register to view this content. to download your video off of YouTube while maintaining its original quality, and then re-upload to the NGU channel.

This video also gives a bit more information on what is to come:
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDyIg6WO-AQ"]YouTube- eXoOutsider and Sesh's Dual Commentary FFA on Karachi[/ame]

Remember, not everything has to be MW2-related, in fact, it would be great to see some people doing BFBC 2, BioShock 2, or any other new game commentaries/ montages/ glitches/ exploits/ machinimas or anything video game related, as long as it is well made, to give us some variety! On the subject of commentaries, if you are planning on doing one, please read what is hidden in the spoiler before posting one, so you know what we are expecting in that field:

Well, after numerous instances of people becoming aggravated at my seeming unwillingness to add other user's videos to the NGU YouTube channel, I have decided to create a thread that kills two birds with one stone; it tells users what I expect when you direct me to a gameplay commentary video which you would like uploaded to the channel, as well as giving a few pointers to any up-starters in this video genre.

I would like to get the more business-y side of the issue taken care of first. Now, I realize I am not the only one with permission to upload to the channel; there is also Outsider, Coltz-One, and Dopey, but if you link me to a video which you are requesting to have uploaded, and I reject it, I discourage you from attempting to circumvent my decision by asking one of the other contributers to post for you. If I do not think the video is worth posting, there is probably a good reason, but following the guide below should prevent me or any of the other main contributers from being forced with rejecting too many submissions. I do not enjoy making enemies out of the people who I reject, so please do not force me to turn you down by submitting a video that does not fall remotely closely into the parameters that I have set below.

The way I see it, listed in order of importance, there are three main factors that determine the overall enjoyability of a gameplay commentary video; Interesting commentary, skilled gameplay, and graphical quality.

Now, since I don't believe any of you out there are the next Ken Burton, skill of gameplay is going to be a major factor for anyone attempting to get a video on the channel. Of course there is a lot of leeway and wiggle room, but I've had people ask for concrete numbers of what I would like to see, to here they are (this applies to MW2 or any other CoD game):

If you have a more reserved or campy style of play, I recommend finishing off the game with a 10-1 or higher K/D ratio. If you are flat-out rushing into every battle, killing 4 out of 5 people bunched up in a room before dying, annihilating boosters, etc. then maybe a 5-1 K/D at the end of the game would be fine.

Obviously, the commentary can make any sort of gameplay enjoyable, so if you are an outstanding speaker, the numbers I listed above may not even apply to you. Remember, your commentaries are not a live broadcast, and you can spend as much time as you would like outlining what you would like to say. If you are a funny person, try making jokes and being enthusiastic about what you are doing. If you are not as much of a comedian, try being more articulate to let people know that you are not some 30-year-old high school drop out living in your parent's basement playing video games all day. Be fluent in your speaking, steer away from long pauses that convey to the viewer that you are at a loss of what to say, or that you are not really interested in what is going on. Clearly, doing the voiceover in one, un-edited straight shot is best, but if you must, start out by combining multiple takes to avoid silent patches of dialogue (oxymoron?), and work your way up to commentating on the whole video at once as you improve. Also, remember to enunciate your words so that the viewer has no trouble understanding what you say. You could be the funniest person in the world, but if no one can understand you, it doesn't matter.

As far as graphical quality, videos recorded by the Hauppauge HD PVR or the Black Magic Intensity Pro are going to be easier on the viewer's eyes, and therefore more enjoyable for them to watch. Dazzles will work, but you must make up for the lack of graphical quality with your commentary and gameplay.

Last but not least, I know these guidelines have been stated before, but I thought I would reiterate them in this thread:
Your submissions cannot be over 10 minutes long
If we do decide to post, it must maintain over a 4 star rating or it will be taken down.

Hope this clears up some confusion and encourages some new faces!

A few more guidelines you must follow for your submissions to be considered which are here to make sure the channel remains in good standing with YouTube:
1. No copyrighted musical content contained in the video. If you want mainstream music, you must use YouTube's audio track substitution tool.
2. No leaked/exploited content that could be regarded as a threat by any game developers/producers.
3. If you are submitting a glitch, even if it has already been found, make sure there is something that will differentiate your video from those that have already been posted on the topic.
4. If we decide to upload your video, it must, after 75 ratings, maintain a 4 star rating in order to stay on the channel.

Well, that's about it, hope to see some good submissions soon.

Thanks. I appreciate the kind words. It takes forever to make this stuff so getting positive feedback is motivating. Happy

I'm just wondering if any of these videos are actually going to be put on the channel. All I have seen are Sesh's videos going up every other day, yet this thread is full of videos from the community, which I thought that's what the channel is for, not Sesh's personal channel.
