A new viral website may provide clues to the next entry in Activision's popular Call of Duty franchise.

The website, located at gknova6.com, provides a series of cryptic imagery and sounds presented on an old-fashioned television set. Once deciphered, audio cues seem to spell out "APRIL WEEK TWO," which is widely speculated to mean that additional information will be provided next week.

The website was discovered after members of the gaming press - including 1UP - received a mysterious package yesterday morning.

Inside was a 1GB USB drive that contained a text file and an MP3. The clues contained on these files were deciphered elsewhere on the internet (primarily by Joystiq) and lead us to the GKNOVA6.com web URL.

The envelope has no return address, though the postmark comes from Southern Maryland, leading many to believe that the package may have come from Bethesda. The publisher today denied any involvement in the stunt.

Instead, the clues seem to point to Activision as the most likely suspect. The most damning evidence came yesterday on the Unfiction forums, where a user discovered that the site's Google Analytics number coincided with the websites of several other Activision titles.

As pointed out on MovieViral.com, there is a possibility that the stunt is meant to promote a new game called Singularity, but further examination makes a new Call of Duty title seem far more likely. According to fan site We Play Call of Duty, "a few of us in the CoD community" were also sent the package, making the connection nearly confirmed.

Additionally, imagery in the GKNOVA6.com video points to a Vietnam-era setting, coninciding with rumors we've heard about the next Call of Duty title.
