Do you consider 0 to be a number or more of a symbol? Should it even be considered a number?

I saw this topic in the History channel, I forgot what show it was though.

Well, take one for example. Technically it's just a symbol to represent a concept - same as zero. Instead of that symbol representing a positive quantity it represents a quantity of nothing.

0 is as much of a number as any other number...It can be used in the same ways as all the other numbers but with a different value

If your in base 2, you only talk/represent in ones and zeros

Like 10 in base 2 represents 2 in base 10

Anyways, 0 can be accounted as both a number and a symbol. 0, in terms of decimals, is a number-a number symbolizing nothing.
