Have no fear, Fallout: New Vegas will mimic the classic and core gameplay of award winning Fallout 3, most notably being the gargantuous map. There are, however, some improvements.
- A new hardcore mode has been added
- Combat has been tweaked (no info available)
- Weapon mods (kind of like attachments I assume)
- Gambling =D
The Fallout universe is set in the aftermath of a global nuclear war. You trek through arid wastelands, killing mutated ghouls and crazed raiders. Creative challenges and devious puzzles line the path you walk. For the 'simple' player, do not be unnerved; almost all of these are optional and there is often another way round.

As in all Bethesda games, character customisation is extensive and powerful. It is worth noting that age has been added into customisation. From this picture we can perhaps tell that more features are a physical part of the game and not an on-screen menu. The Pip-Boy 3000 from Fallout 3 perfectly highlights my point.
New Vegas is set 3 years after the events from Fallout 3. The story is not continued and is separate. It is possible to play New Vegas to full extent without having played Fallout 3, although inevitably there will be quips and easter egg references to the previous game.
Las Vegas, now under the name 'New Vegas' has fared better than New York. The area is more diverse, you could relax in downtown Las Vegas or take a trip to one of the borderline towns more reminiscent of Fallout 3. You must login or register to view this content.
The beginning of the story:
You are carrying a package, it is very important. Trekking through the wasteland a bullet slams into your head. Having been left to die in the middle of the desert a robot by the name of Victor carries you to a 'oc Mitchell.'
Doc Mitchell will mimic the beginning events of Fallout 3 by going through an optional aptitude test with you then predetermining your skill levels. If you want, they are customisable, presumably by the interface shown in the earlier picture. You can then choose your characters appearance. Overall the new process is much faster and more efficient than the Vault of the previous game. After having been given some advice and a Pip-Boy 3000 you are thrown into the wasteland.
Tutorial missions are available or for the seasoned wastelanders such as myself it is possible to jump right in!
As I have mentioned before. There is a new 'hardcore' mode. This mode is much harder than it may sound.
- Tiny things such as bullets have weights.
- You must also carry provisions as you will require regular food and water at regular intervals.
- You must visit doctors to heal broken bones
- Stimpaks heal over time and not instantly
