Post: Praying Mantis

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); yeah.....i caught one(about the size of an average cellphone) and i want to know what to feed it since it isn't eating the leaves that i left for it to eat...

i can't feed it insects and animals(maybe dead bees and wasps).

what do i feed it?

I had a large mantis for a while. They generally only live for about a week and a half so don't get too attached. I would hit flies and knock them out a little so they could just walk near the mantis, then he/she would see them and grab them. But don't force feed them, they don't like that. A little soda bottle cap full of water will be fine for it, but you will never see it drink, it will though.

I have some video of mine eating the flies, I could probably get them for you.

Another thing: Mantis's don't like cages. They tend to know when they are trapped and won't eat or do anything while in captivity. I just let mine roam, and it stayed because I fed it. Shortly after he arrived he died though, just out of no where.. he looked like he was sick and fell over. I almost cried... almost.

hmm could have died for many reasons. Old agae, prob the soda cap had some bad little organism. who knows though

Thats a heart renching story..you should write a book...ill publish it and we can make a movie...a boy and his mantis...we'd make millions maybe gazillions!!!

Ahaha that'd be awesome. I can't get the video of it yet because my girlfriend's stupid sister has her usb cable to her cellphone... Maybe sometime in the future.
