I think people are just scared to admit to being Atheist. It seems to get looked down upon as socially unacceptable. Sad really, naivety seems to be all to common these days.

Honestly, I don't know. I really have no opinion on religion but I'm scared that if I come out and say it "God" might curse me and kill me and then I go to hell. I guess imma have to read up on it and make my decision... But that one question if there was a "God" is this... "Who/what created "God" and that makes me stumble...

I think it's just an answer our minds can't comprehend.

Though the thought of an afterlife or reincarnation would comfort my thoughts about death, I refuse to believe that. I believe nothingness. I wasn't living nor do I remember anything from before I was born(or when I was born for that matter lol) so why would I magically start living after I died?

You say magically like it's a stupid idea, but if it turns out to be true the word "magically" still isn't applicable.

Nope, it says a lot about how many science nerds are on the internet.

Whether I believe what I just typed just above this I'm not sure, but you don't see as many religious folk on the internet IMO.

I believe that, when you die, it's over.
But i hope i'm wrong :p. afterlife or reincarnation would be cool.

But i did hear some strange story's ..
The mom of my friend once went to Paris (she lives in Belgium and never went there before)
and when she arrived in Paris she felt like she had already been there..
She knew a lot of street names and recognized some buildings. (while she has never been there !)
This might be a sign of rebirth.. or, this might just be nothing Smile.

Nothingness I can't stand people saying there's an afterlife when there is absolutely no proof.

True, but can you truly say that with 100% certainty?

Imo, this is something mankind is not meant to know, and that is why we want to know so badly.

Anything could be possible after death. Nothing, Hell/Heaven or maybe the propostrous sounding complete opposite. Like if you do bad, you go to heaven.

Who knows? Noone

The good news is though. No matter what happens, everyone will eventually find out, so why speculate on something that could be any out of trillions of possibilties?
I think it's because we all like to know what to do in order to give our lives meaning, to be rewarded afterwards. Because most people would become depressed if they would know f.e. there would be nothing...

I'm just going add something to this as well, the reason I do not believe in life after death is due to the fact that there are so many religions arguing about it, they cannot all possibly be right and they may well all be wrong which is why I'm an atheist. You have to admit that if there was one correct religion we would all worship it but instead we have hundreds of mainstream religions and then countless amounts of religious cults that believe in the most crazy things ever, for instance the south park episode which featured The Cult Scientology was actually not an over exaggeration and did explain essentially what the cult believe in.

I'm not saying with 100% certainty that life after death does not exist but as far as I can see being alive now is as alive as you can be. I suppose the only thing you can use to argue against this is people that have died and have risen out of there bodies and then come back to life and tell stories of being able to see what's going on around them when they died but I have had things happen to me in my life that I don't particularly want to remember and in my memories these events are in third person and I can see myself from outside my body not inside so perhaps the people that tell these story’s of seeing there body on an operating theatre table are just seeing what the perceive to be happening around them in third person because they do not want to believe that the person on the table is them or that they hate the event so much they have disassociated it with themselves.
