How to make a proper thread or post on Nextgenupdate - Guide by TheReaper

First, I would like to start out with....

1. Grammar [/U] is basically the most important thing you can have in your thread or post. This basically shows what skills you have with spelling, and also how smart you are. When making a thread or post you should make a rough draft first so you can gather ideas and also so you can add words as you go along and also so you can change it up a bit.

2. ProofReading - ProofReading is a very vital thing when you are making a thread or a post. Because just like number one says you need to have good grammar so people can understand it. And also people will actually want to read it and enjoy what you have posted. Also, Proofreading allows you to read your post over and it allows you to think if you have you have to change anything is you post like spelling errors or etc...

3 Correct punctuation Correct punctuation is also another key factor while making a post. Because this also resembles how skilled you are while making your posts. Examples of some punctuations - Havent - this is not the correct form, this is - Haven't. Or also here is another Example - Cant - this is not correct - this is - Can't. There are all kinds of different punctuations you can add to your posts. You can have comas, you can have apostrophes ' - you can have all sorts of different things. All of these things you can add to your posts, to make it better and cleaner, and also easier to read so others would like to read your posts more often. And remember to source your info in your post if you have used anything.

4. Correct Capitalization - Correct Capitalization is very key to making great posts to. With capitalization I think you should use it all the time. Because it looks more proper and more organized. Example - How are you? - Correct form. There is also the letter I,i. This letter is also very important to and should be used too in the right way. Example - Jon and I are going to the party.
There are a lot of other examples out there, but most are common sense but they need to be applied.

5. Correct Endings - Correct endings are also very important. When making a regular sentence or one that just shows normal day things, make sure you use the period. When you are stating a question make sure you put a question mark at the end? When you are writing something exciting or fun, make sure to put a exclamation point at the end!

6. Slang Terms/ Texting Words - Most of you probaly have a phone that has texting capabilities here. When making a post please don't include, Examples - lol, ttyl, M2AF, OMG, WTF, GTFO these terms should not be used when you are posting a thread because these are basically only used for texting, but so many people caught on to it, they use it in there daily lives now. These words are basically just used for texting to make it go faster. Whenever making a thread please refrain from using these words.

7. Nextgenupdate Forum Rules - Nextgenupdate forum rules. This is the last number but this is basically the most important rules you can follow here while posting! Some of these rules include - Don't flame other users while posting, Don't double post or even bump old threads. And also please don't swear in any of your threads or posts because that just doesn't make you look good on your part. But the most of all thing I hate is bullying! When someone makes a post and you don't agree/ like it, you don't have to say anything bad to him. That's why you haven't the ability to give negative rep. If you would like to see and or review the forum rules please click You must login or register to view this content.

Well I hope this helps you guys out and also this website to cut down spamming and etc... And also helps everybody with there posts and threads!

I believe this is a useful thread, but let's be honest here, the internet is not serious business, we don't need to watch every punctuation, grammar, or spelling error. As long as it's readable I could care less. Unfortunately, there are people who start to go wild when someone doesn't know how to spell or punctuate something correctly, which is dumb to be honest. This is the internet, not a JOB APPLICATION.

true. While I agree with you, I think that it's important to always project yourself with integrity and respect. This starts with typing in complete sentences and at least ATTEMPTING to write something that is understandable. I can't tell you how many professional emails I see at work and people write the same way as 12 year old kids on forums. I guess it's a practice what you preach. I'm not saying I don't have the occasional typo or lazy sentence... the majority of the time I type/post with understandable sentences. I gots me some smartz ya know! :p:whistle::roll:

Oh my god. Unless your goal is to reach moderator level or higher. Your grammar should not be top notch. Well it shouldn't be top notch every single post. icanposthoweveriwantandsocanyou.

For me personally..... The Grammar, spelling etc... It's not to show how clever you are, it just makes an easy read.

If you 'talk like da n stuff', you just look like a child.

Daddy's home.
I agree with rjive. At one point, I hardly used punctuation in my sentences such as apostrophes in words such as can't and I started to do that when I was at school. I started out using them slowly and it just seems like a natural thing to do whilst touch typing. If people use slang all day everyday on the internet, then when it comes to the time for them to use correct punctuation either they won't, or it will take them about 2 hours trying to make sure they got everything correct. Instead, they will still miss out commas, apostrophes, not use capital letters and so on. The biggest annoyance for me is seeing people write "am" for "I'm". I don't know why, but it just digs at me. It's like my nails on a chalk board. Of course, everyone has their lazy sentence. Like if I'm in a hurry or the shoutbox, I will use IMO, OMG, WTF and so on.

Great post though.
