That would be a downright retarded idea. Perception of Muslims would change from some being terrorists to open support of terrorism. Many people would take that the wrong way, and obviously the ones being intolerant to begin with were the radicals that crashed int the twin towers.

It's not about their religion, it's the fact that it's symbol of the ideology that demolished both the WTC and the building where the mosque is supposed to be built - in a similar fashion that a US embassy in the middle of, say, Hiroshima would be entirely disrespectful.
