I am trying to get you to feel the way I feel about gay marriage. It is not right to marry an animal, nor is it right to marry someone of the same gender. Marriage is for a female and a male. Marriage is a privilege, not a right.

I never said we were "better" than animals. An animal or an inanimate object can't say yes or no in a proposition of marriage. Two consenting people should be able to marry.

So a person with severe mental retardation shouldn't be able to get married because they can't really "consent" to anything considering they aren't in the right state of mind.

If they can understand the concept, then they should be able to. If not, it wouldn't be right to make that decision for them.
