I can see where some people would say it is 'hilarious', in the sense that it seems people are running around without a clue as to what they're doing, but if you take time to think about what it is actually doing, it isn't hilarious in any way. The American economy, that was beginning to enter a state of recovery, is now likely to go back into a recession, seeing as to how the economies in the South-Eastern states is, and will continue to be ruined. The spill is also obliterating the environment, and permanently damaging our eco-system.
It is hilarious from afar, yes, but close up you'll realize how terrible this incident really is. This isn't something that, when plugged, is going to simply go away. This is something that is going to be in the back of our heads for years, maybe even decades to come, considering truly how long it is going to take to clean all of this up. That's to assume that they are eventually going to find a way to plug the hole before the well simply dries out.
