A Minnesota teenager had to have his testicle amputated after being punched in the groin by a classmate, KARE11.com reported Friday.

David Gibbons, 14, was changing classes in his Crosby, Minn. high school when he was attacked by another student playing a game called “sack tapping.”

David’s mother, Christy Gibbons, said it wasn’t until hours later that they realized something was wrong.

"One o'clock in the morning he woke me up and told me he was in excruciating pain," she said.

David was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Brainerd, Minn. where surgeons removed his right testicle.

And David is not the only student who has suffered the consequences of the “sack tapping” game.

"It's just gotten way out of control," said Dr. Scott Wheeler, a urologist in Brainerd, Minn. who says he performs three to four surgeries a year on boys with ruptured testicles and other complications as a result of “sack tapping.”

"All parents, you need to have this talk with your kids not to do it. It's lost its humor. It's not a game anymore. People get hurt," he added.

Sounds like testicular torsion. I live in fear of this happening to me every day ever since reading about it. Apparently it's really not that difficult to cause it.

Testicular torsion is when the tubes to ur balls get twisted and ur balls dont sit in the right place. In testicular torsion they give you a minor surgery and "untangle" ur balls so they are the right way. It does not cause you to lose your fellas if done right and quick enough after you feel that onset of pain in ur balls at random. usually within six hours u need the surgery.

Anyhow, Back in high school we use to play the "fair warning" game. U would be walking in the halls and all of a sudden one of ur friends would say "fair warning" and go to hit u in the balls. Stupid game really but fun to watch XD

Testicular torsion is a surgical emergency that needs immediate surgical intervention. If treated within 6 hours, there is an excellent chance of saving the testicle. Within 12 hours the rate decreases to 70%, within 24 hours is 20%, and after 24 hours the rate approaches 0.
