Yang Youde (A Chinese farmer) has fought off two eviction attempts using his home-made cannon, made from only a wheel barrow and some piping, which fires locally made fireworks. He was offered a total of 130 000 Yuan (around £13 000) for the land he owns so the government can build new department buildings. He however claims the land is worth much more then the sum of money offered.

Earlier this year he was saved by the police when he ran out of rockets and the property developers came knocking. Again in May he fought off many property developers by firing his cannon from a hastily constructed watch-tower.
