PAY TO PLAY IT

1st off posted in general section, because cannot be posted in the news section, And this is for both console's. So please if u need to move it feel free. Also not sure if this has been posted but it's straight out of the box magazine issue for August 2010.

Analyst Michael Pachter says the days of free multiplayer over xbox live are numbered.

If your like most gamers, your probably reading this in between throat-ripping sessions of call of duty: modern warfare 2 multiplayer. The game's developer, infinity ward, says xbox live users have already invested 1.75 billion hours playing MW2 within six months of its release.
Xbox live subscription fees and social life aside, those billions of hours in multiplayer matches have come at no additional expense to players. Videogame-industry research analyst Michael Pachter says that's going to change, since game publishers are busy figuring out business models that will charge you for online multiplayer across both live and playstation network.
''Fall 2011, i think call of duty: modern warfare 3 is a subscription game,'' Pachter, told us from his Los Angeles office. ''it'll probably still have a single-player campaign and some free online multiplayer and co-op , Enough to hook you.''
Pachter, one of the games industry's most high-profile analysts, says he's heard directly from Activision that the company wants to start charging you directly to put some bullets in the head of xXHaloLUveRxx. And once Activision is successful, all the other game publishers will follow suit, he explains.

My Opinion:

WHAT THE HELL??
Gaming is already expensive i mean we already pay 50 dollars a year or more for a live subscription, and games are 60 to 70 dollars off the shelf, Now charged for online multiplayer?? all i have to say is the companys are getting WAY TO GREEDY, they need to tone it down a bit, if they honestly think this is gonna work and get them money, they can think again. Subscription to a video game for multiplayer is BULLSHIT, specially when u already have to pay for online connection, NOW ANOTHER FEE???

Their talking about a range of maybe $15 dollars per subscription, what about for someone who plays 4 or 5 different games online, your looking at 100 dollars a month just to subscribe to games. NO THANKS

DON'T THINK SO, THIS JUST MIGHT RUIN VIDEO GAMINGEek

Who is he, the same guy who came out with the same exact news, only mentioning PS3 instead of xbox?

Btw, it's bullshit: PS3 online gaming is free, 360 is not because you have to pay xbox live membership.. what would they do, add another fee for online gaming? That would be ridiculous.

Anyway, as soon as I'll have to pay online or, worse, pay an online fee for each game, I'm quitting PS3 gaming and either have a life or go back to mmorpgs.

Edit: I wish I could make a living making up shit, like that guy does lol

If this happened I would most likely quit gaming, or just play singleplayer only. Charging is shit.

I can gurantee that the first game to have this fee will fail miserably.

I have seen this coming for a long time & am surprised it hasn't happened
already. It's never never been a question of if it's going to happen only when.

I personally will not be paying anything extra then the $70 it already
costs to buy the game, But a lot will especially if its got the COD
name.

I will quit or just play offline games & if thats the case i'll be renting
because I only buys games if they have online.

"Free online" is going to turn into a privilege now and not something that is standard in all games.

i think its really lame, if they start charging a subscription price they will definitely lose alot of gamers to this.

which for the most part would be a stupid stupid mistake, this is just them getting more greedy.

No one will ever pay for gaming like that, think if u play 12 games online. u have to subscribe to 12 games a month?

i call BS and no one would ever fall for that!
