George Steinbrenner, the principal owner of the New York Yankees, died today at age 80 in Tampa, Florida, his family confirmed in an e-mailed statement.
He was a businessman and owner and former principal executive of Major League Baseball's New York Yankees. His outspokenness and role in driving up player salaries made him one of the sport's most controversial figures.

The Myth, the Man, the Legend. Hopefully his sons can do good for the team in the upcoming years and carry on the family name. RIP.

His sons where the ones that signed the major pieces that helped the Yanks get to the World Series last year, so I don't think Yankee fans have to worry about their team in that aspect.
