(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So last night as i was trying to sleep i remembered a moment i shined in glory because of my gaming skills & today i thought i would start a thread to hear everyone's "greatest gaming glory moment" stories.

So everyone can have an idea of where i'm getting at & i can have a chance to tell my gaming glory story--I'll post mine Smile

Newyears Eve 2000 i was 10 years old. My aunt and uncle had taken me to this party at their friends' house. A crap load of people where there, and of course i didn't know anyone. Being 10 i got bored of trying to stick close to my aunt or uncle and i wondered off to see if i could find anything to do. I came across an open door leading to a basement full of boys my age all gathered around one of those projection big screen tv's playing video games. Donkey Kong 64 had come out sometime in november 1999 & i had little time to play it seeing how my older brother just got the 64 gaming system a few weeks before new years. (& he hogged it to where i had to sneak in my game time/ here it is 11 years later and i'm still bitching about that)

So i go down and find a place to sit and watch the guys play this game when they reach a boss they can't beat. I watched as they took turns at failing to get past this boss. You all know how feelings and angst rage when you get stuck in a part in a game. They all yelled and screamed at each other that they aren't doing it right or how they would do it better. I waited till i could get the word out "I GET NEXT TRY!!" one kid laughed and insisted that next turn was mine & i thanked him not because i thought he was being nice--that he was an asshole enough to want to see me fail. (i knew better that that, cmon kid.)

Here is my turn, i was so pumped. That feeling you get before you say something rude to the teacher--knowing you're going to get in trouble--but always understanding that a good much needed giggle with a friend will come later. I grab my controller sit down Indian style ( the best no chair gaming position) It was the Third boss in the game i think? The dragon fly looking guy. He spit fire balls-i threw barrels at his chest as he laughed. All the boys watched as i beat it on my first try-one life-one Kong. I could feel my face turning red as a cherry (trying to keep back that victory yelp and laughing uncontrollably out of excitement) the room was almost silent when i tried passing the controller to the next person--he didn't take it right away--he finally took the controller, i went back to my place in the back of the room to resume watching them play. When everyone's attention was back on the tv, i let my smile crack. I love remembering this moment...it felt awesome.

Note to anyone who believes other wise - If you click on a thread that says post your gaming glory moments, you should expect to read more than a single line or shorthand explanation of someone's recollection.

I grew up playing video games. (And yes... it WAS different for anyone that is over the age of 20. If you were born in or after 1990... you wouldn't understand. Not saying that you don't have video game stories, exp. ,etc. Just that your gaming generation was a lot different.)

My cousin and I are both the same age. We spent every waking moment together like brothers. I was always at his house or he was always at my house, even school nights we got to sleep over. Both of my parents, my aunts, and my uncles were all gaming junkies when I was younger. One day when we were about 14 years old my uncle grounded my cousin for the weekend because he had not done chores or some shit. I was still allowed to stay over but I was technically grounded with him.

That night my uncle was sitting up playing video games (and drunk as hell I'm sure) in the living room. He thought he was a bad ass at all video games but his favorite game was Tetris Attack.

I ended up negotiating with him.. trying to get out of being grounded. We ended up playing against each other at this game for Double or Nothing. We played best 2 out of 3 and of course I won the first one, he won the second and then it was time for the tie breaker. It wasn't even a close call on the last round, I dominated his ass. He was so pissed, but he stuck by his bet and I got my cousin out of being grounded. Anytime I get leave and happen to see my uncle I try to find a way to bring it up. He still gets pissed... I love it.
