Hi, i just want to voice my opinion on a certain subject;

And i no im not the only one who wants this messege across so im speaking on behalf of a lot of people and also alot of forums.

Ive been looking through the site and lots of other sites and i would say 40% or more is copy and pasted between one an another, this site is about 5-10% which is good but still not great. Its just annoying for people to be reading the same things over and over again.

Im not saying dont get ideas or insperation on a thread from another site. That would be stupid, im just asking if you could not completely rip the origional authour off and copy word for word. Use it as a base and write it out yourself, remembering to always give credit at the end. After alll its plagerism and that is a big no no.

Also this is one reason why other forums have a feud between one and another. To be honest i dont blame them, i see some of my threads on other forums and i want to rip them up and sue them (perfetic i know but true).

All i am saying is why dont we stand out from other forums and keep the copy and pasting to a minimum and the site will be much, much better as it doesnt look as if were trying to imitate other forums when we clearly arent not

Just please consider this when thinking of posting a copy and pasted thread.

Thanks.

Wait...what?
Around when I first joined NextGenUpdate, I made a thread similar to this, or one that had the same point at least (Not insinuating this should be closed, just saying) and the feedback generally was that the majority of people couldn't care less as long as a source was posted.

My view, which isn't always right, is that copying and pasting of any sort, even when the source is given, is plagiarism. What someone copies and pastes is the hard work of another person. Depending on the depth of the post, they could have spent some time writing it - for what? Just to have a link to the page they wrote it on?

The thing that I had to comes to term with is that people post threads that are copied and pasted, for the most part, just to gain reputation. You have no idea how many times people will add reputation to a user if the thread seems developed. It's not always the fault of those adding reputation to the user, as they don't always know it's copied and pasted, but they will still get reputation.

As the saying goes, 'Awesome faceon't hate the player, hate the game'.

As long as there is reputation (which some people think matters) to be earned from it, they will post it.

Now, I couldn't care less. I have a list of people in my mind that I know, constantly copy and paste threads and take credit for them. As soon as I see their thread, I won't pay them the gratitude of a thread view.

It makes me think sometimes, why no-one has copied and pasted Einstein's theory of relativity and said it was theirs. I bet they would have a gold star by now...

I agree, but you can't stop it, the Internet is one of the most powerful weapons.
