(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have decided to make a thread showing the proper usage of commonly misused words, I hope this thread will become a source for you when you need help. This might even help you with homework.

[multipage=You're Vs. Your]

You're- You're is a contraction, which means it is you and are combined.

Example: You are a active user of this site. Becomes, You're an Active user of this site.

Your- Your is the possessive form of you. It refers to something that belongs to a person in question or, the person you are talking to.

Example: Is this your gamertag? or, your game is at my house.

[multipage=Their, There, and They're]

Their- Their (much like your) is used to indicate possession. It is a possessive adjective and indicates that a particular noun belongs to them.

Example: My friends lost their PSN Cards. or, Their XBL accounts were stolen.

There- There is used when referring to a place.

Example: My Wii is over there next to my TV.

They're-They're (much like You're) is a contraction. In this case They and are combined.

Example: Hurry! They are going to sell out of Black Ops! Becomes, Hurry! They're going to sell out of Black Ops!

How to test the usage.

If you write there, and you replace it with here will it make sense? If yes you are doing it right.

If you write their, and you replace it with our will it make sense? If yes you are doing it right.

If you write they're, and you replace it with they are will it make sense? If yes you are doing it right.
