How to Make a Good Thread

A good web forum thread is simple enough to make; it just takes a little creativity.

Instructions

Step #1
(Think of a good topic.) The best web forum threads are the ones that resonate with forum members. Think about some topic that will tap into people's thoughts and or feelings. Shoot for something that hasn't been said before within the forum's niche. This will draw their attention, and bring them into your forum thread.

Step #2
(Add a catchy title.) Your forum thread's title is your one shot at getting forum members interested in your topic. Being able to create an interesting title is a basic marketing strategy. Titles that work well are often humorous, extremely clever, or just flat out blunt.

Step #3
(Incorporate a poll.) Everyone has an opinion, and everyone also loves letting their voice be heard. By adding a poll to a web forum thread, you will encourage people to express their opinion. This often leads to debate, which is always good for the lifespan of a forum thread.

Step #4
(Participate in your thread.) People often create forum threads on the Internet and forget about them. If you are active within your forum thread, that will help keep it on the first page. This might inspire people to contribute to the thread if they see the creator still involved with it.

Step #5
(Promote your forum thread in your signature.) An extra way to generate more traffic to a web forum thread is to place a link to it in your signature. That way, whenever you post you are also advertising.

Tips & Warnings

* Another way to make a good forum thread is to develop a reputation on the forum.

*With more followers, people will likely participate in your forum threads more often.

* Controversy sells well on forums. It gets people talking.
