(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); This Weeks topic: Gun Control

Guns in general for the U.S.

My opinion:

As most of you may already know, the second amendment gives us the right to bear arms. I am no strong fan of handguns, but I don't like it when I lose a right. Handgun laws more and more are being passed, not "banning" handguns but just making it near impossible to purchase one. I believe our founding fathers purposely put in the second amendment that this right will never be infringed, so how dare we infringe the right? Hypothetically, if handguns were banned they would still be available in the black-market making them only purchasable by the "bad guys." We regular Americans would have no possibility of self defense if a criminal approaches us with a handgun. For example, weed is illegal, however I can call up a friend right now and get it right away. It would be almost the same with handguns imo.

Opinions?

I think noone should be able to purchase guns. If nobody purchased guns, then the criminal record would probably be decrease. Saying that, if people get in a dangerous situation, the government would be more efficietn if they invented some kind of buttons which if you press means that it's a life or death situation.

With your idea the government would soon become Big Brother. I think that if you have legalized control over something, it's better than banning it. In places like Amsterdam and the Netherlands, pot is legal and there's no abuse of it. North America however, there's people who abuse it, because of the being illegal. The same goes for guns, there's crime everywhere but by making the guns impossible to get for citizens to use as protection, the crime rates go up. The black market is fed by people who want stuff like that. Thus the criminal economy thrives, the crime rates skyrocket, and the whole country goes to shit.

Summary: Legalize guns with control over them.

Like everyone else is saying, don't ban guns. Doing this would go against the constitution which was written by some of the most admirable men this country has seen. If we illegalize guns, yes it may keep a couple guns out of the wrong hands, but people would continue to purchase illegally. My theory is that 99% of things that want to be, can be. If someone had their heart's desire to get in an airport with a gun, they absolutely could. But do people do it, not frequently. The same goes for banning guns, once you ban it people are still going to buy them. If someone wanted to, they could nuke the white house... you think the president's gonna survive. Just because it's illegal doesn't go that far in this sense, people will still be able to obtain guns. And afterall, the people that are abusing the right of guns, are the criminals, keep in mind criminals. They buy the guns with the intent to break the law anyways, what makes you think they're gonna worry about breaking the law to buy them??

I'm going to speak from the Irish side, Our consitution does not allow guns or any other things, Mainly to stop a Civil War breaking out between us and up North. Google Ireland in the 1800s to 1920.

The problem with no handguns over time leads to mass murders heppening in Gangs, Frugs or Non-Drugs related. Ireland used to have a murder every year and now theres one every day. One of the worst places is Limerick where guns just kill other members and our Garda( Police ) are not armed so can't do very much.

If our Gardai can surive against Crimes without weapons why should America not, Its possible and trust me the Gardai have some balls to go after th most ruthless people.

Taking a life from someone is wrong and thats why gun rights are beinging taken away from people.

Im leaning toward what outsider is saying but a little more tight on how to register and sell handguns etc, i think that the only people who should have them are law enforcement, Assault rifles, sniper rifles, hand guns... Only Law Enforcement or jobs that actually require them. The only weapons that should be sold are Hunting rifles, Bows, Shotguns etc. anything for recreational purposes and they must have a thorough back search of the persons life. Including Car accidents etc, to know if they have a past of recklessness.

Well this is how it is. No matter how hard it may be in the future to get your hands on a handgun(registered) the crime rate with guns will generally stay the same. If anything it will make the black market selling guns a lot stronger of an economy and more people will start trying to sell hand guns illegally because of immense profit. I just say leave the amendment alone.

I think guns in ENGLAND should be near impossible to get becuase you'd just see the crime rate fly. I think knives should also be impossible to get but there are so many market stools that sell them.

K, people don't get the whole cycle of illegalization.

-Law passed, something is made illegal
-Every law-abiding person has nothing of the illegal thing
-A non-law-abiding person has the illegal thing

So with guns, only the bad guys get them. See how that would work? Guns should be controlled, not made illegal. The more illegalization that happens, the more things get out of hand. Some places have a lot of stuff legal there that isn't legal here. They have no issues with them, at least compared to the extent of what we have. This is proof that something illegal is more sought-after by criminals than citizens. That creates a vicious cycle. Therefore, if pot and other things illegal that shouldn't be, were made legal, things would slowly even out and there would be less crime involved.

If they ban guns it won't be too long after that I'll have to ask to take a shit. Too much government is bad. I do feel that the laws inplace need to be enforced, but no more should be written
