The iPad is a great device for browsing the internet, playing games, watching movies, listening to music, reading, and having a variety of useful apps to use. It is great because it has a beautiful screen, a long-lasting battery, and is light. However, if you do NOT currently have a laptop, I would recommend that you get one as it will be able to run more advanced applications and games. A laptop is a great tool for school. It all depends on what you need a device for.

Personally, I would like my own computer. But that's me. I use my laptop a lot in high school for various assignments and also use it for games, design, and web browsing. I will say that the iPad is cool and I love mine but a laptop tends to give you more for your money (Ex. storage memory, processor speed, USB ports, a built in camera, a full keyboard, and more advanced software). It depends on what you use a computer for to be able to decide if you can use an iPad as a replacement for the computer.
