(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The CW has released photos from the sixth-season premiere of Supernatural, “Exile on Main Street,” featuring the return of Mitch Pileggi as grandfather Samuel Campbell.

As fans of the series may recall, Dean (Jensen Ackles) was transported in a Season 4 episode back to 1973 Kansas, where he met his parents as teenagers and discovered that his mother and grandfather were hunters, too. Unfortunately, Samuel and his wife Deana were killed by Azazel — only after the Yellow-Eyed Demon possessed Grandpa Campbell — before the Winchester brothers were born, and Dean’s angel-fueled trip through time didn’t change that.

So how is Grandpa back among the living? I have no idea. According to the Supernatural Wiki, Frederic Lehne also will reprise his role as Azazel. So “Exile on Main Street” could be another time-travel episode (that seems unlikely, though). However, there’s also the possibility that the two are somehow resurrected in the turmoil of heaven and hell in the aftermath of last season’s aborted apocalypse.
