First of all, I know theres a similar thread to this, but this is maybe a little updated!
Lenovo is known as one of the world's largest manufacturers of notebook PCs. Now, the Chinese company will also throw themselves into the market for gaming consoles.
Microsoft has used standard PC components in their Xbox 360, and now Lenovo is trying to make a cheaper variant. The plan is to lay just below the Xbox 360 on price
There will be no need for a controller in their upcoming console!
Lenovo says that the machine will come with a camera that reads the player's body movements, and that it therefore does not have to have a controller to control the game. This is in contrast to competitors such as Wii and Playstation 3 The idea is to inspire everyone in the family to get up off the couch and get some exercise.
- We are the world's second company that produces a controller-free game console, and just behind Microsoft, "says Jack Luo, director of the company, the newspaper China Daily.
Lenovo also has an ace up its sleeve: Game consoles like Xbox 360 is prohibited to import into China, because of the laws of the Chinese Ministry of Culture. Thus, the manufacturer can sell Ebox without competition in their domestic market.
The company should already have 16 global game development companies in the process of developing content for the console. Customers will get 30 free games when they buy the console.
Launching this year
Ebox will be launched in China by the end of the year, and will then gradually rolled out in Southeast Asia and the rest of the world.
