Square Enix recently revealed that Final Fantasy XIV — which had previously been an PS3 exclusive in Japan — will be coming to the Xbox 360. The news caused a violent reaction on Twitter with mobs of internet users ganging up on Square Enix president Yoichi Wada and calling him a "liar" and "greedy".
Kotaku hears that Wada believes that the enjoyment Square Enix games give should not be limited by platform. Moreover, it is bad games that hurt the brand, not multiplatform games. It seems that Wada feels that the importance of platforms has diminished.
Microsoft Game Studios exec Phil Spencer sees several different scenarios. "There are scenarios of proven hits in the market where the economics of the situation make it prohibitive for someone to choose one platform over another for the duration of the franchise," he tells Kotaku. "There are situations where exclusively working with one platform helps the creative process." He mentions Gears of War, an Xbox 360 exclusive developed by Epic Games, as an example.

Those bastards did it to us again.... Final fantasy 13 was good but not that good... I have followed final fantasy since I was 4, It has always been on the Playstation and before that the super nintendo... I guess it really is not a loss since it is an Online game.. But I am very disappointed in Square enix..
....................EDIT
Do not get me wrong I am all for games going to all consoles, BUT when there has been an exclusive on a console since 1997 for Gods sake leave it to one console... Especially since they are so worried about everyone playing the game that it takes away from the game itself...

Same here.
Ive always followed the FF series but 13 IMO plain out sucked.
It was missing all the elements that makes Final fantasy what it is.

I'm not surprised by this at all. As soon as FFXIII was announced for the Xbox 360, the franchise was practically a multiplatform game. It's a shame that the new FF games won't utilise the full blu-ray disc capacity because Square Enix and Microsoft don't want to release an Xbox 360 game with 5+ discs.
EDIT: The same applies to GTA IV (regression of map size and features) and all future GTA games.
