This woman got it wrong, and I think you might have understood wrong too.

The act will only ban websites that are 'dedicated to infringing copyright'.

YouTube has tools that copyright owners can use to remove the copyrighted material, and they also ban a users account after 3 uploads of copyrighted material.

This said, it won't shut down YouTube. It will mean that the US will simply block it, and like has been done in other countries, you can use a proxy to access it.

Also, if YouTube was to be shut down in the US, they'd move to somewhere in Europe and make money for people there.

YouTube isn't getting taken down...no problems here.

At the moment no it isn't... give to much power to government over the internet, and eventually it will be shutdown. Any bill/law involving the internet and government involvement should be quickly denied.

Yeah, to the US government.

All the US government can do is stop the business operating within the US.

YouTube can easily switch and register their business in a different country, run perfectly fine and still make lots of money.

yes that's true, and noted. But my main point is we who live in the US need to be smart about what laws we allow the government to attempt to throw upon us.

They can't do shit for torrent sites. Torrent sites doesn't provide copyrighted material, it only links people to it, just like Google.

Take for example thepiratebay.org, they have received tons of e-mails from big corps, and 0 torrents have been removed, and 0 torrents will ever be removed.

thepiratebay.org/legal

Also, this is just a big LOL. Youtube can run their business in a different country and everything fine.

I Know that torrent sites can't be forced to remove content cause of loopholes.. It would only make sense IF this bill was passed that the government would try to block it. It cause's billion's of dollars in damages to copyright owners.

If youtube was banned in the us they would loses a lot of profits. Probably would have to shut down. US traffic is worth a lot of money, and I'm pretty sure that youtube only started making profits a little while ago. But then again youtube is not going anywhere, so no point getting into that.
