I have been tracking this bit of news over the last few days and things are definitely heating up. Many loyal gamers who purchased Forza 3 and the $100 Collector’s Edition when it came out late last year are now mad over new content only available on the Ultimate Collection edition of the game.
The Forza 3 Ultimate Collection will be releasing on October 29th, just a few days from the release of Gran Turismo 5. As accused by some, Microsoft very well could be attempting to eat away at Sony’s GT5 launch sales with repeat buys from loyal fans.
The company is enticing die hard Forza fans to pick up the Ultimate Collection in order to gain access to 10 exclusive cars that can only be found on the special edition. In addition to the cars, gamers will be treated to 90 minutes of edited Top Gear shows. Also, Stig’s Garage Car Pack will include: CCX, Mercedes Benz SLS-AMG, The Koenigsegg and LEXUS LFA.
It looks like Turn 10 wants to compete with Gran Turismo Prologue’s GT-TV by also offering Top Gear episodes.
The official Forza blog is swamped with nearly 300 angry comments. Here are just some sample rants:

I bought the collector`s edition so that I had more content then normal users and Turn 10 did a DLC for everybody else that wanted to bought it. And you told us that we would have 12 months of DLC and it is not… In fact it is three months now that we had no DLC…. Now you annouce us that we have to paid again a new whole game to have exclusive content?????? I`m out. I`m closing my account and I`m waiting for Gran Turismo. I`m done with you guys.

T10 is treating us like crap, making us go out and buy a $30-$60 dollar game to get a few extra cars. Guess what? Most of us won’t buy it. I’ve spent over $130 dollars on the game, including DLC. It may seem harsh to release the Ultimate Collection right before GT5 and have long awaited content only available on the disc. However, just like Sony or any other company, Microsoft is in it for the money and encouraging repeat sales of the same game by packaging new content is hardly a new practice.

Well GT5 is going to be the better game GT5 Prologue was amazing and that only had 5 tracks. The thing is I'm more of a casual gamer now and don't ever rush out to get games not even the new call of duty titles that everyone loves so much but for GT5 I will make the exception and I believe it's this that will have it shit all over the forza ultimate ed because people that perhaps don't have a love for games like CoD will buy this because it's almost like a milestone in the Next Generation Consoles era GT5 Prologue had groundbreaking graphics and I believe GT5 will have an improvement on this.

Agreed, I am going to GT5 when it comes out (midnight release!!). Not buying the special edition though too expensive xD
