it's not "cheating". it's a term used for someone who takes 'easier' classes, to raise their GPA. ie: Here, we are required 4 CORE classes (lit, math, sci,ss) per year, as every school in the country is, obv. Then we have 2 ELECTIVE classes (gym, computer, etc); a non core class. Most people, who are carrying lower GPAS (>3.0) will take (gym) twice (two free A's), instead of maybe (business) which might be harder for them, where they might get a C, and instead of two C's, they get two A's; essentially raising their GPA.
it's not cheating at all, it's just wanting to make your self look higher in your class.
Like me, I have my 4 CORE Classes. ( AS OF RIGHT NOW MY GRADES ARE)
Statistics (MATH) - 91
American LIT - 93
American History - 83
Chemistry - 79
Tennis- 100
Business Essentials - 100
Obv, tennis is a 'easy' class, but I've taken everything thing else, done my foreign languages, done computer apps, done gym/health, so I figure I take tennis, have a good time. I guess you could say I did it for the free A. But MOST likely, I would have an A in my other ELECTIVE class.
