(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so here in california their is a internent provider called road runner and they use cable for internet. that being said a friend told me that you could jtag the modem and get you some wicked high speeds. i searched it and found this site*link removed*

now could anyone tell me how i can get a modded modem and if i can conect a router to it? cause i certainly have cable internet but what that modem does is take off the cap i think.

please if anyone could post a tut on this

yea im not promoting the site but they try to keep it on a down low their forums have to tuts it just plain information for advanced people

lol, JTag a modem. xD Go look up what a JTag cord and port are and you will realize your friend is an idiot.

I have no experience with these modems, but there definitely ways to make your internet faster. Whether it's changing the wiring to be more direct, replacing with upgraded ethernet cords, running various programs, etc etc.

I have Road Runner, my upload speed is always terrible but download speed is always great. Road Runner is great though already without messing with your modem and what not, which I am not sure you can actually do.

What you are talking about is called cloaning. It requires you to use something to reprogram your modem (like with a max232) to a modified firmware, which basically allows you to put in another users mac address and get the speeds they are, OR sometimes you can force configs for faster speeds. All in all though, this isn't really the forum you will get much information on, there's plenty of speciality websites that will have a lot more help for you there.
