(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Just to clarify, in the United Kingdom drinking laws require you to be 18 to purchase alcohol.

"The minimum age for the purchase of alcohol is 18. People aged 16 or 17 may consume wine, beer or cider on licensed premises (pubs/bars/restaurants) with a table meal. In England and Wales, it must be an adult who orders. In Scotland, no adult is required to be present. The legal age for the purchase of alcohol from an off-license (store/supermarket) is 18. (The legal age to buy liqueur chocolates is 16. but this is rarely enforced.)"

I personally feel that at the age of 16 you should be able to purchase alcohol.
Why? - Well by the time you're 16 you'll of left/be leaving school, that's a big point.
After leaving school you're now finished with compulsory education, you're deemed mature enough to decide and pursue any future education leading to employment, specialised or not.

If you're mature enough to decide whether you receive future education and whether you get a good job or end up on benefits, then in my eyes you're mature enough to decide whether you can drink alcohol or not.

Now I know what you're thinking "We have a 15/16 year old here who wants to drink but mommy and daddy won't let him"
A few things wrong with that:
1) I don't know my Dad Haha Winky Winky
2) I am allowed to drink. My mom purchases it occasionally for me.

One thing right with that sentence:
1) I am 15.

But the fact I understand the pro's and con's of being mature enough surely should justify my maturity.

What's your thoughts on the matter?

Maturity is a big factor, and with age, maturity grows, a logical age is honestly 18 and i believe that that is what it should be here in the U.S. instead of 21, but what pisses me off is that a majority of the teenagers aren't mature enough to accept the fact of drinking, they see it as a social positive, that it makes them "cool" but seriously, mature people don't drink to be cool, and if the age limit was 18, that would make drinking less of a taboo it wouldn't really be "cool" to be drinking because of course, every one does it. BUT that is not the case, and we still have some immature little cocky kid's that want to rebel, which i think is absolutely unnecessary. And yes, some kids may be more mature than others, but a general majority is the same, iv'e seen it day in and day out, dumb little high school freshman's acting up and being morons at parties and such, it's more embarrassed than "cool". Here's a prime example of immaturity:

No person would go to a store and take a picture with a case a beer, that is just childish. So, overall, underage drinking is never going to stop and those kid's are going to grow up and get struck with reality so it's all just a matter of time. However, i do support the drinking age being at 18, this would be a devastating blow to their immature ass blown up inflated egos.

haha that is because you weren't drunk to your limits, trust me, i get buzzed/drunk a lot and i'm still capable of driving, but there has been times where i was literally ****ed, smashed, hammered, could not walk straight, and if i can barely walk without passing out, im pretty sure i wouldnt be capable of driving, so what you should know is that when people are seriously drunk, driving is deadly, so yea, people do not over exaggerate at all, Every 15 minutes, there is an accident due to drunk driving, so yea, anybody can drive with a beer or two, but start adding up to the shots after shots and then who knows how much they drank? so yea man, drunk driving is a serious and deadly issue.

I think you should be allowed to purchase it at 16. Here in the US they can try you as an adult at that age. Why not let you drink like an adult?
