Has been a while
1) “Look, the Americans call us terrorists; what terrorist act did we ever commit?" -

1) Taliban plotted the suicide bombings of the Twin Towers. Well Osama did and he is associated with the Taliban so people will link it to the Taliban.

2) "They traveled 10,000 miles to us and forced us to wage jihad against the Russians, who were their enemies, and now they are waging a war against us."

2) I do understand his point. The U.S. only came to Afghanistan in order to prevent the Soviet Union from spreading communism. The C.I.A. supplied and trained the Taliban with weapons/vehicles and a ton of money (I think 250 million) to fight against the Soviets.

3) "We are Afghans and Afghanistan is our country. All we want is for the Americans to leave us alone; only then will there be peace in Afghanistan.”

3) This guy has to understand that Americans (not all but many Americans) want the head of Osama Bin Laden, the man who plotted the bombings of the twin towers. It is a huge political risk for the President to decide whether or not if he wants to pull the troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Also a huge paranoia from some Americans will ensue if the Taliban are to be left alone and not conditioned by American troops. This paranoia obviously stems from the 9/11 bombings in which Americans think... "oh, if the Taliban are left alone they will most likely plan another major bombing/attack on the US". Which can be taken as an ignorant or plausible statement.

Daddy's home.
I would like to say that he makes some good points, which he might, I just don't know. Without having ever been to Afghanistan or talking with the 'normal' civilians that live there, or have lived under the Taliban regime, I can't say he makes good points. The Taliban haven't committed terrorists acts. If you believe the American government then it was Al Qaeda that did the towers. The Taliban, from what I understand, are linked with them to get the Americans out of their land. They are fighting for what they believe are America trying to tell them how to live. He makes a good point in that. Why do America feel the need to stop communism and dictatorship?

Crumpets and tea?
This commander is correct.
At the end of the day what does the American Government expect the Taliban to do?
America as invaded there country and they are fighting back. Think of it this way if Russia invaded America would the American people just put there hands up and say "we surrender"?
No they wouldn't its highly likely they would arm themselves and wage war with the russian occupation force. And thats what the Taliban are doing.
