New statistics have revealed nearly half of young men still think sex with women too drunk to know what is going on is not rape.
And 46% of men aged 18 to 25 also do not consider it rape if the woman changes her mind during sex.

The survey comes as a new video to raise awareness about rape was posted on YouTube by a group of specialist support centres called The Havens."It's not consensual sex unless both parties agree," explained former Miss Great Britain finalist and rape victim Victoria Buglioni.

In May last year, Ms Buglioni's life changed suddenly after she was followed into the toilets at a London nightclub."The man grabbed me by the hair and smashed my head against the toilet cubical wall."I fought back as best as I could but I was knocked out for 27 minutes during which he continued to rape me and get what he wanted from me," explained the 25-year-old.

Despite CCTV evidence, no one was convicted of her rape.

Astonishingly, even if a woman says "no" from the start, 23% of young men still believe sex after that point does not constitute rape. But police urge women who believe they have been raped to come forward even if they did not say "no"."If victims don't recall saying 'no', they often feel there is no point coming forward fearing there will be no case to answer," said DCI Mark Yexley, of the Metropolitan Police.

"But in fact they are right to come forward and if it's not to the police, they can go to centres like The Havens."The Havens are 24-hour referral centres that offer victims forensic examinations, medical checks and counselling, even if they are unsure whether to involve the police. But Ms Buglioni, who despite her ordeal has yet again made the Miss Great Britain final in December, urges women to come forward if they can.

"The kind of men who do these horrible things need to be brought to justice, so as hard as it might be, come forward, even if you ask organisations like The Havens to help you."

I found the story pretty interesting and it also made me rather angry when the man is always blamed for rape. For instance the women gets extremely drunk and ends up having sex with a guy that she didn't want to well thats her own ****ing fault for getting so drunk in the first place if she's in a situation that she dislikes and that's due to her actions earlier then she's the only one to blame. I do understand that the guy should have obliged her wishes and stopped so there is a certain amount of blame to pin to him aswell but without her getting drunk in the first place this would not have happened so the guy is not ever 100% to blame.

I don't agree with the bit you added. You don't know what's happening when you're drunk. What you're doing or anything. If the girl seems too drunk to realise what she is doing, the man should realise that she's too drunk and shouldn't go any further with her. In a way though, if girls didn't go for all the "good looking guys" half of this wouldn't happen. It ends up being those guys that will take it to sex because they're not used to getting told "no". They think they're too pretty for the girl to not want sex with them, so then they resort to violence and rape to get it from them. At least, that's what it's like in my town.

That's just my opinion, no thought behind it.

Ok, let me put it this way for you. You go on a night out. You get drunk for whatever reason. You don't know what's happening, you have no idea who you're talking to. You wake up in the morning in someone elses bed. Great you think, only wondering why your arsehole is hurting. You turn over and find a dude next to you. What would you do? You chose to get drunk. It can work both ways my friend.

If they are acting flirty while there drunk and have sex - it's not rape to me

If they aren't acting flirty and the guy starts hitting on her and won't go away then tries to have sex and she doesn't know she's doing it - it's rape to me

So that's my opinions. I'm 13 anyways Cool Man (aka Tustin) so don't plan on having sex until around 15 - 18 with someone I LOVE!

Here's to Loonyology!
Recently a woman in England was sentenced to 3yrs in prison for falsely trying to imprison a man she claimed raped her. It was all down to the man ending their 1 1/2yr relationship and the woman couldn't handle it, so proceeded to try to turn his life into a shambles.
Justice is served in some cases.

What you must also realise is this is a very sensitive topic. Woman have nowhere to turn with regards rape, but the few who do stand up for other rape victims get condemned by some quaters. This makes women feel hemmed in and have nowhere to turn when they do get raped.
In the early 1900's, if a woman claimed rape they could get put in prison for it. It's only recently they have been able to come out and speak about their traumas and experiences.

In most cases, despite the woman being drunk it is still rape. When people in this thread say "if they're drunk, its their fault", you need to think about what you're saying. People are allowed to go out and drink in the knowledge they will be safe, regardless of how drunk they are. 'infectedsoul' has given a brilliant example of if the shoe were on the other foot.

In ending, sex with any person should always involve both parties being aware and understanding what is going on, before anything happens. If you take a girl home and she immediately passes out on the sofa, leave her there and go to bed. You'll save yourself a life of shame.
