Taking matters into your own hands usually makes your situation worse. Typically someone gets picked on for being overweight, for being a nerd, or for their sexuality. The people that fit these categories typically wouldn't do very well in a fight. If you start a fight and lose, chances are that the people/person that was picking on you will try to make you lash out at them again. Really I wouldn't recommend fighting the bullies unless you know you can win.

Bullies are usually intelligent enough to pick on someone defenceless.

Bullying causes suicide indirectly. It is depression and self-pity which lead to suicide.

...and on the idea of 'fighting back'. Apart from being defenceless, most likely not confident in ones physical abilities, depression and self-pity. Looking at it like this, the person being bullied would blame him/herself for the bullies actions, making fighting back very difficult and highly unlikely.

That's why I said I typically wouldn't recommend fighting back. I suppose I could say I wouldn't recommend fighting back unless you know you can win AND you've tried all recommended courses of action to no avail. But 9 chances out of 10, fighting back will just make things worse.

Are you high?
Maybe so, but their home life probably is another factor. Their parents should be able to tell if their kid is getting bullied, and so should teachers. Their are obvious signs such as bruises or any kind of injuries. Or if your child is acting differently or not wanting to go to school you should know something is wrong. It's not all the bullies fault for the suicide.

Also, kids that commit suicide for getting verbally bullied should learn that the only thing that matters is what you think about yourself and the only person that can judge you is god.

There have been plenty of instances of people committing suicide without showing any signs. And I don't think parents or teachers are at fault for not noticing that kids are getting bullied, it's completely the bullies' faults because they're the ones doing it in the first place. There's no excuse for it and it's just plain wrong.

Words can be more painful than physical injuries if the right ones are used. Bruises heal, but you can't unhear something. And a lot of the time, bullies pick on outcasts, who typically don't have friends. If you have no one to go to that can relate to you, are constantly being barraged with various insults, and are commonly excluded from just about everything, suicide would seem like a viable option.

It's easy to say "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" until you've been in a position where someone says something that really hits home.

I have no doubt that bullying can lead to suicide, but you definitely have to be an extremely weak-minded person to let it get that far. Fight back, get help, etc. Even if you don't, are you really stupid enough to think that your entire life will be based on your adolescent social niche? Do you think that the pain you will inflict on those who do care about you is worth ending yours? Who suffers more - the bullied or those who lose loved ones? Suicide is cowardice in most cases. I have zero sympathy for those who end their own lives because they can't bear ridicule or stand up for themselves.

That's just simply not true. From what I've seen from "bullies" and from what I know about human nature, it's evident that people generally try to do things that require the least amount of effort. If you fight back every time you get bullied (even if you lose, as long as you cause sufficient impedance), they'll generally move on to easier targets.

I've always said the same, I blame both partys for the end result.

*facepalm*

There is no such thing as bullying leading to suicide. It's just weak people who don't do anything about it and think suicide is "the easy way out"
