Post: HD PVR Questions [PLEASE READ]

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I have no idea where else to put it.

Anyways, would I need a good computer to record in HD with an HD PVR. My good-enough computer (4 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon HD 5450, Windows 7, Intel i3 Processor) is upstairs. Far away from my PS3.

My computer that is right beside the PS3 is terrible. 2 GB's of RAM, terrible graphics card, and it cannot play videos fluidly in 720p+ on youtube.

My question is; would my crappy computer be able to record HD gameplay from the HD PVR without lag in the final product? At the same time as it records, can I use Turtlebeach P21's?

First off you'd need your good computer near the HD PVR as it will need to be plugged into the computer and you will need a lot of space as the files are big! Here's a setup video: [ame=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXbjr8QtVfY]YouTube - Hauppauge HD PVR Setup Part 1 (UK & PS3)[/ame]

He talks about space needed, and shows you how to setup + how to use the program to render in HD.

PS. Yes you can use your headset as you record it has no effect on the headset setup at all.

The following 2 users say thank you to GooNeyy for this useful post:

I saw a couple videos on Youtube after watching that.
In those videos, the people used Y-Splitters, and a bunch of really complicated setups.

Would I need the stuff in other tutorials? And my crappy PC fulfills the requirements it says on the HD PVR website, so I'm guessing it'll work just fine?

The Computer you have would work fine for recording. But for your setup you don't need alot of cables. If you got the hauppauge hd pvr it should of came with most of the cables. The cables that don't come with it are the ps3 component cables, you will need to buy those they cost about $20 at any local gaming store. If you need any more help just
pm me.

You need to buy PS3 COMPOSITE cables you can get them at gamestop for around $15. Your computer should be fine TO RUN the program but you wont be able to store a video longer then about 5 minutes which is why you can't rely on the site itself for reviews. You could use an external HDD on your laptop if you want or have some more ram installed.

Lol I like your GB rank edit :p you wish you were 11th haha my 5k got banned for staff abuse lol
