(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); With humans destroying everything in sight with no signs of stopping, eventually, someone is going to come up with a plan to start settling a different planet (most likely Mars). Would you be for or against the colonization of another planet?

My personal feelings on the matter:
I do not think we should, as we would become the parasitic race that moves from planet to planet sucking up all the resources it can that you see or read about in science fiction occasionally. Humans would just keep going, not stopping until they had no where else left to go.

Although I agree with your opinion OP the only way we can ever evolve our scientific knowledge and use less resources is by staying alive and preserving whatever knowledge we have right now, then increasing what we know and having less impact on whatever planet we're sat on.

Besides, in the few hundred years science has had look what we've achieved, in the next 200 years or however long we have left on here I find it hard to believe we won't have solved most of the problems that plague us today.

Retired Life
At some point in the distant future we may colonize another planet.
The cost of it would be so prohibative that it would be unlikely unless life on earth was threatened.
It would probably happen as a result of a one way launch of a self sustaining spacecraft launched for that purpose.
Current or foreseeable technology makes it unlikely that it would be in our own solar system, other than an unsustainable outpost.

As far as other exisiting life if we found a place?
Mankind has proven that we would use it to our benifit or kill it if it was a hinderance.

I suspect that behavior happens in other places that may support life.

Let's hope mankind never becomes a hinderance to a superior life form, if one exists.
