The film was written by Kurt Stutter, best known for creating the US drama Sons of Anarchy. Kurt Stutter the writer, explained that in a way it's a continuation of 8 Mile but rather then a literal biography, they are doing a metaphorical narrative of the second chapter of his life.

I don't think so. Eminem's whole persona is based around the idea of some small town kid hitting it big and what better way to do that but through a boxing movie
