Post: Addressing the Community
12-19-2010, 01:09 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well Hello NGU,

I haven't been on this site as long as many of the others but there are things I have been seeing lately that I find to be detrimental to the community.

For one, why does everyone seem to be soft when posting a response. People don't seem to have real opinions anymore and only post what people feel gets them some REP.

A few months ago most people look down on rep whoring and helping out the community was a lot more prevalent. Now a days, I see people saying they "Deserve" rep for something they did or will do something only if they receive rep.

People post useless things in the completely wrong section and still receive rep for it because Newfags are lost and find something that anyone with an IQ above 50 should know.

Anyways these are just a few observations I see and would want to see changed.

Thanks for Reading,
Light Bringer.

I totally agree, people do only do shit on this site for rep. Rep needs to be abolished. Sorry rep fags, you're still not cool.

Rep either has to go or has to be changed. Thanking a random post gives 5 rep? I mean come on now....I can make a smart ass remark and receive rep?

Changing it so that you can tell what the rep was for (as in separate categories) is preferred but its obvious, its easier just to remove.

I just want a more vocal community, instead of one that is afraid to share their opinions. This isn't Nazi Germany people!!!

Being a troll and sharing an opinion share a fine line. I agree.

IMO... Rep shows how helpful you are to the community and isnt totaly pointless and should not be abolished. Now on the other hand I think people are starting to just do things for rep because they think they will be more respected or something. I dont know just thought I would say my two cents worth.

You really think it shows how helpful people are? People put a limit on what they are willing to share unless they receive rep. People make smart ass remarks and gestures in hopes of receiving rep. If you got a sharp tongue, you got rep.

I never said it should be abolished. It should be changed. But it is a FACT that removing it is easier.

Yes trolls do get rep but the people who post helpful things also get it. And some people take rep as getting paid... You wouldn't do a job if you were not going to get paid would you?

Forum rules clearly states that you can't ask for it.
Why is there a +Rep if I helped in so many signatures?
You can't take out +Rep at this point but if you want to promote open fearless opinion then remove negative Rep. and just leave in the groan button.
You can't stop the popularity and suck up rep that is given, but people that make serious contributions to the site should still be rewarded.
