Also to the guy that said mass effect 2 is coming to ps3, while that is true mass effect 3 won't go to ps3 until a year after its been released for Xbox
Mass effect 3 are comeing for the ps3 and 360 at the same time just to tell you
I though Sony made losses last financial year? Xbox sales have been increasing still. I know of this locally because everyone from my school is coming onto xbox.
As previously stated, games are made for xbox 360 via PC. They then need to be converted for use on a PS3 which reduces overall quality of game play because it was made for the Xbox. When I say gaming I was thinking competitive such as online shooters.
About everyone clinging onto the comeback 'pick up the phone and call them' I'm not sure if you guys live in America or something but here in England we wouldn't do that. That is a massive impracticality to hold the phone up next to your ear while trying to play a game. (you could only talk to one person as well) Sometimes if I want to go out with people I can join their party on xbox and ask them all at once. Parties are also part of the routine when I go on. Turn on the xbox and join a party of people playing the game you want to play. You ask for an invite and you get one after they finish the game. All the while talking about things and catching up.
First off it doesnt matter how much money sony is loseing as this year they filed a finacial gain.
You are right that most multiplatform games are designed on 360 and ported to ps3 and pc but the ports are not different or very slightly in some games that use the unreal engine. That does not matter at all as gameplay and features are all the same and thats what its all about. All blockbuster games that are multiplatform are spent more time porting to ps3 to make it rivil the 360 game and at times surpass it.
As for cross chat, you dnt hold a phone to your ear to talk but instead hook your bluetooth to your phone and talk. Almost everyone now has a bluetooth enabled phone (even the motorola razor is bluetooth enabled). Thats all you need and the best part you dnt have to spent $50..er...I mean $60 for online every year
