Microsoft's "smart tablet"

Microsoft is setting out to make a competitor to Apple’s popular iPad. The “smart tablet” is set for it's first appearance next week, at the Consumer Electronics Show. So far critics are skeptical of Microsoft’s creation, such as Keith Goddard, CEO of Capital Advisors Incorporation who says,
“By the time Microsoft gets it figured out everybody will already own an iPad. That train has left the station.”
Despite the criticism Microsoft is moving on with their project. As well as introducing their new tablet Microsoft will be introducing a new full version of Windows, mostly geared towards things like the tablets and wireless headsets. There is no word on what the operating system would include at this point either.
Microsoft has a big task at hand as the iPad will be hard to dethrone. The iPad has sold 7.46 million copies since its release earlier this year. Next year there could be as many as 37.2 copies sold according to the expectations of analysts. The tablet’s part of the computer market is also expected to rise above 9%, but before the iPads release the tablet market was at 2%.
So what do you guys think on this, how do you think Microsoft’s “smart tablet” will turn out? Do you think that the Microsoft product will be able to surpass the iPad? Discuss below.
