As it has been revealed that EB Games and Gamestop are now accepting pre-orders for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS, the price still has remained a mystery. However, upon a recent visit to my local EB Games, I inquired to as to if they were taking pre-orders for the new Nintendo hand-held system and they replied "Yes". I dared to follow up that question by asking how MUCH it will cost. To my shock and disbelief, the customer service rep answered "399". She quickly corrected herself (thank god) to a much lower price of $299.

Now, the price of (basically) 300 dollars (Canadian by the way) is quite the hefty price. This would put at a similar price of the Sony PSP and 50% more than a real console in the form of the Nintendo Wii. Will this high price affect the market for the 3D Handheld system? It will remain to be seen but with Nintendo holding a blowout of details in January we will see if the price is revealed and the public will be able to see if this is only a "hardcore gamer platform"

What do you guys think? If you were interested does this price surprise you or make you think twice about rushing out to pre-order it? Or is the price what you expected or even a little bit less?
