A teenager who supervised an 8-year-old boy who shot himself with an Uzi submachine gun at a 2008 gun fair in Massachusetts said Friday the former police chief charged in the boy's death knew he was going to work on the firing line that day.

Michael Spano testified Friday.

A video of Christopher Bizilj firing the Uzi that killed him was shown to jurors in court on Thursday.

The boy's father, Charles Bizilj, testified in court Thursday that, judging from a flier he read, he believed that the October 2008 Machine Gun Shoot & Firearms Expo would be a safe event for his two young sons.

But as he filmed his younger son, 8-year-old Christopher Bizilj, firing a micro Uzi submachine gun, the boy lost control of the weapon and shot himself in the head, Bizilj said at Hampden Superior Court during the trial for one of the people charged in connection with the boy's death.

Spano testified that he told the boy's father that "it wasn't a good idea" to let the child fire it.

This is truly sad and I think it is the fathers fault what do you guys think?

They all share blame I think. Ultimately the responsibility should fall on the father (in my opinion) since he was there. Who knows how those other will see it though.

It's the dad's fault. He's letting an EIGHT YEAR OLD KID fire a ****ing gun. 8 year olds should not be handling REAL weapons. The dad is a ****ing idiot and he's the only one to blame.

The following 2 users say thank you to Dylan for this useful post:

I've shot a gun when I was eight, it wasn't a high firepower sub-machine gun though /facepalm

I agree with you no kid should be shooting a gun yet alone a mini uzi which is a very powerful sub machine gun. Stuff like this makes me sad.

Ever seen a .22 Ruger pistol? When you shoot the gun, the hammer slides back a few inches. My dad was teaching me to fire this gun when I was no older than 6. After he showed me a few times, he let me fire it on my own. He wasn't paying attention while I pulled the pistol all the way up to my face and tried to use the sights like you would see someone use a scope. When I fired the gun, the hammer slammed back, and cracked my cheekbone. You should see how pissed my mom was at my dad. Happy
