The Titans didn’t wait long to confirm Don Banks’ report that coach Jeff Fisher is on his way out:

“The Tennessee Titans and Jeff Fisher have agreed to part ways and Fisher will no longer be the head coach of the team,” the team announced Thursday evening.

Just minutes before, Titans owner Bud Adams seemed surprised the news was public.

“Where did you hear that?” Adams asked Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. “I better check on that. I can’t talk about it now. I really can’t talk about it now because I don’t know what’s been said. I want to see what is going on.”

The news has taken the league by surprise: Even Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger told Wyatt that he hasn’t heard anything.

Appearing on NFL Network, Banks wasn’t sure why Fisher and Adams were parting ways now. Banks mentioned losing defensive line coach Jim Washburn was a blow to Fisher. Having to “bite the bullet” and fire defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil could have also been a factor.

Interesting. I personally hope he ends up coming to Philly to coach their D this year. Then that gives the Eagles the option, if they have a rough year, to can Andy and promote Fisher.

Although, not really sold on Fisher as a headcoach, he is a helluva DC.
