(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); There seems to be a lot of debate over drugs such as marijuana being a gateway drug. And I decided to put together a informative thread about illegal drugs, legal highs, and everything in between. And hopefully this will inform you on which is worse... Marijuana or other drugs... and is Marijuana a gateway drug? If you think so then so is caffeine, tobacco, and cough medicine.

xX___BMX___Xx ... This is for you :carling:

Marijuana

    The major active chemicals in Cannabis is delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol(THC)

    Marijuana is the most widely used drug.

    Marijuana is also classified as a "Gateway drug" (Isn't proven, still a THEORY)

Caffeine
    Caffeine is primarily found in coffee beans.

    Caffeine is compared to Cocaine do to the fact that both are alkaloids and stimulants of the central nervous system.

"Triple C/Cough Medicine"
    Triple C is cough medicine. Taken in large doses will cause you to trip

I would like to get into greater detail, as in chemical structure, but this is pretty good. Also hope you enjoyed this...

There is proof that legal drugs are worse then illegal drugs such as MARIJUANA!!! And Marijuana isn't a gateway drug in my opinion!
[multipage=My Opinions]
My opinion on drugs are that if you call Marijuana a gateway drug then so are legal drugs, cough medicine, Excedrin etc. I also believe that Marijuana isn't a gateway drug do to the fact that "Triple C" which is more addictive and has more deaths from overdose then Marijuana... and I have never heard of anyone overdosing on Marijuana!

I would love to hear your opinion on drugs etc... please don't flame if you disagree with me... I gave you basic facts.
[multipage=Links and Further Details]
Here are the links to the Wikipedia's for each drug listed. Gotta give credits to where they belong!!

A nice fact to add to this 99% of marijuana users don't use harder drugs, but 99% of people who used harder drugs have used marijuana, which makes it easy to ignore the majority who don't use hard drugs and try to make the gateway point by data from people who use hard drugs
^ Thanks again ihaxgames.

If you'd like further details please view those links!!! Also I will eventually add more drugs. But all in all, don't go hating on Marijuana because its a sin in the US.. its not even as bad as Cough Medicine...

Do a barrel roll!
I just want to throw out there (opinion) I personally don't know anyone that has tried/been addicted to herion/coke/extacy that has not smoked marijuana in the past. I have know a few addicts and "partiers".

Do I think that marijuana is a gateway drug alone; no, but I do feel that it is the stepping stone for most (older....teenager and up) drug use. I don't think that if you smoke marijuana you will defiantly "upgrade" to something harder, but i do feel it is an entry level drug. It's cheap, easy to find, etc so it is usually a typical starting point.

I agree. I've been smoking bud for a while.. Its not a gateway drug one bit.. I just think that people try weed... then they want to go try something harder, more potent, and more addictive.

No prob, just think ppl should know how marijuana isn't as bad as people like to think

Here's an interesting quote from the article

"Dr. James Woodward, a physician and attorney, testified too late on behalf of the American Medical Association. He told the committee that the reason the AMA had not denounced the Marihuana Tax Law sooner was that the Association had just discovered that marihuana was hemp.

Few people, at the time, realized that the deadly menace they had been reading about on Hearst's front pages was in fact passive hemp. The AMA understood cannabis to be a MEDICINE found in numerous healing products sold over the last hundred years.

In September of 1937, hemp became illegal. The most useful crop known became a drug and our planet has been suffering ever since."
